Q: Why should I hire a professional house painting company? Isn’t it easier to paint my house myself?

A: Of course for smaller jobs, it can seem easier to tackle your home painting project on your own. But, even with these smaller projects, they can lead to bigger ones and you could find you’ve taken on more than you can handle. Not only do you need to set aside time to actually do the work, but you will probably have to go out and buy supplies like brushes, rollers, trays, drop cloths and more, not to mention the actual paint and primer. And, if a mistake occurs, like if you get paint where it wasn’t supposed to go, it could lead to a much larger, more expensive endeavor than expected.

But, when you hire a professional house painting team like the one at Bay Country painters, you don’t have to worry about any of that! We can handle every aspect of your painting project from start to finish.

Q: What are the typical preparations a professional house painting company should provide?

A: Not all painting companies offer the necessary prep work. But, with a professional house painting company like Bay Country Painters, you can expect extensive preparation. When we come to your home to begin an exterior house painting project, we will begin by laying down some drop cloths to ensure we do not accidentally get paint on any of your flowers and plants. We then scrape your home’s siding if need be, and we will apply a coat or two of primer before we begin to paint.

For an interior house painting project, we will first clean and patch the walls if needed. Then, we will apply a coat of primer. From there we will paint the walls and use as many coats as needed to ensure everything looks uniform and professional.

Q: Do you offer free estimates?

A: Not all professional house painting companies offer free estimates. But, at Bay Country Painters, we do! Just give us a call to talk about what kind of services you need and we can give you a free estimate.

We pride ourselves in being the trusted professional house painting experts in the Baltimore and Annapolis area and take great care to pay attention to even the smallest details on each painting job. Paint-It-Forward 2016-17: Winner Announced!

Posted by & filed under Bay Country Painters, News and Events, Paint-it-Forward.

Bay Country Painters is proud to announce Robin Talbot of Annapolis as the winner of our 2016-17 Paint-it-Forward charity event.

About Robin Talbot
She is a single mother of two growing boys who lost her husband to a courageous battle with cancer a number of years ago, when her sons were at the young ages of just two and six years old. At that time, Robin decided to change careers so she could spend more time with her sons. Making this brave decision also left her with less money to spend on things like home projects.

Then, in September 2016, her eldest son, then a senior in high school, was diagnosed with Leukemia. With the time needed to take care of him and to spend quality time with both him and his brother, it left Robin with little time to get her home the paint job it really needed.

We are very excited and pleased to award Robin and her sons with a $4,500 interior paint job!

About Paint-it-Forward
Thank you to everyone who submitted an entry into our Paint-It-Forward contest, it was a very difficult decision this year! This annual contest is held by trusted names in painting all across the nation. Started 10 years ago by A. Allbright Painting in Los Angeles, CA, it accepts nominations of deserving individuals, families and organizations who need a paint job but lack the funds to get it done.

In 2015, Mike McGurk, the owner of Bay Country Painters and his staff of skilled, friendly craftsman were delighted to join this fantastic movement and bring it to Maryland! This year, Bay Country Painters accepted many nominees from all over the area. Once nominations were closed, we then sat down and began the very difficult task of deciding who needed our services the most. In the end, we knew Robin Talbot and her two sons were the ones we needed to help. It is a pleasure and an honor to give back to the community in this way and we look forward to many more years of ‘painting it forward.’

If you would like to keep up to date with the project, like us on Facebook, or you can follow progress on this page, or you can keep checking our blog for updates.

Residential Painters Advise and Enhance

Posted by & filed under Bay Country Painters.

When the task at hand is finding worthy residential painters for your home, not only is it of paramount importance that you choose the right company but that the company chooses the right kind of paint. As a popular crew of residential painters serving Edgewater MD, we here at Bay Country Painters would like to share some tips on your utilization of the right kind of paint. When you choose us as your residential painters, we will handle these decisions for you. Nonetheless, a little education goes a long way and it can’t hurt for you to learn all that there is to know about paint.

Every type of paint shares three common elements in the forms of the pigments, the binders (film-formers) and the solvents (or vehicles). Pigments, of course, give the paint color. A binder will help the pigment adhere to the surface to which it is being applied. Your solvents allow and help the paint spread onto, over and ultimately penetrate the surface. Knowing these fun facts will help you make sure that you and your residential painters are on top of which type of paint you should use.

Most interior paint jobs are conducted using water-based paints. Paints of this variety tend to dry quickly, making the job carried out by our residential painters a quick and easy process, paint drying time not being a major concern. Common issues encountered by residential painters are blistering and/or bubbling, but they are far less an issue when going water based.

We recommend beginning any and all residential painting jobs with a good coat of primer. Bay Country Painters has found that our painting projects come out looking far nicer and with better adherence when priming the surface prior to painting it. Your standard water-based paint as applied by our residential painters is applied smoothly and evenly.

Maybe you are looking for something simple, not quite a full interior or exterior painting but something that will add new life to your home as it exists. Let’s say that your kitchen has been in the exact same state now as it was ten years ago. What about hiring some residential painters to paint your existing cabinetry? Taking standard brown to temple red or midnight blue will give off an entirely new look without the cost and hassle of an all-out renovation. We will come out and refinish or just repaint your cabinets.

Offering helpful hints or new ways to spice up your home, Bay Country Painters boasts a fleet of residential painters serving Edgewood MD and nearby. Call us at 410-544-4400 or 1-800-937-2468 or contact us for a Free Estimate.

Commercial Interior Painting Can Wake Up That Office

Posted by & filed under Commercial Painting.

You have sat in this same ho-hum, drab office of yours for many, many years.  The walls, white, peeling away at spots are littered with holes from tacks, nails, what have you. Short of the enthusiasm you bring to the desk(s), things are pretty lifeless in there. There are steps you can take to enliven the atmosphere, namely in the form of some commercial interior painting for your Annapolis office.

Commercial Interior Painting

Imagine what a commercial interior painting will do for the office itself. Your company has a logo. Why not, in the form of branding or simply painting that logo on the wall, choose a color scheme based off of this logo that will single-handedly change the overall vibe of the flow of business. One color, two colors, three colors or four, Bay Country Painters will gladly be your provider of paint and implementer of image on the walls of your commercial property.

When it comes to carrying out the work itself, we handle any and all tasks as it relates. If there are holes in your walls (small or large) we will patch and sand. If paint chunks exist on walls, we will scrape them away and sand. The painting, well, obviously, we do that too. All you need to do is choose the colors and instruct us on the particular logistics as it applies to the job—what happens to the office furniture and the like—so that it can be carried out to meet the needs of your business.

All of this adds up to you not having to worry about the job itself. Sure, you may feel or even be fully qualified to carry out this work on your own, but really, do you have the time? Can you afford to lose the time by taking yourself and your employees away from the brass tacks of actual work that they do? Do you really want to shell out the bucks for all of the tools and equipment necessary to pull off a professional looking paint job? Maybe. But why risk it? A professional job calls for tried and true commercial interior painters to ensure that no details are missed, no corners are cut, and that you can continue to carry out business as much as you are able while the office is being painted.
